I sauntered into the living room a few weeks ago, I sauntered into the living room a few weeks ago, both daughters too focused in their work to notice. Blythe scribbled marginalia on Camus and Absurdist philosophy, while Olive tapped out paragraphs about the cultural effects of economic growth in the mid-20th century U.S. And just like that, the young girls first learning to write sentences (photo 2) have transformed into young women expressing robust ideas. I never tire of the miracle, nor the gratitude of having participated in it somehow.

This week is their last week homeschooling together, as Blythe graduates next week and moves away for college later this year. As Feist so eloquently put it, I feel it all.
I have been quietly working to finish projects tha I have been quietly working to finish projects that have been carefully “shelved” the last few years as I’ve tended to the various needs in our family. But today, I am so thrilled to release my latest project to you here—Your Best Homeschool Year! It is the guide I wish I had years ago to help create a plan that wisely suited the people, needs, and aims of our home, and I hope it will serve you and your family well. With a series of thoughtful reflections and strategic processes, this 38-page guide aims to offer practical guidance as you honor both the children in your care and the time given to you with them. You can see a preview and read more details via the link in my bio or Stories!

AND as a celebratory thank you for all of your support, I’m giving away ONE 60-minute consultation, too. One entry per workbook purchase until May 01, 2024. Winner will be notified via email on May 01. Thank you, thank you!

Every Friday night for over a decade we have feast Every Friday night for over a decade we have feasted as a family, celebrating the work of our hands and a generous God who provides it. When our week’s efforts have seemed backward or unproductive, this meal of celebration and rest becomes also an act of faith, a reminder of the givenness of God to supply goodness in all things, even our meals, whether or not we feel deserving of it.

In one of my favorite books, The Supper of the Lamb, Capon writes, “Man invented cooking before he thought of nutrition. To be sure, food keeps us alive, but that is only its smallest and most temporary work. Its eternal purpose is to furnish our sensibilities against the day when we shall sit down at the heavenly banquet and see how gracious the Lord is. Nourishment is necessary only for a while; what we shall need forever is taste.”

Perhaps the family table is just that, a humble means of awakening our taste for something far greater.

The Sabbath is a reminder of the two worlds—this The Sabbath is a reminder of the two worlds—this world and the world to come; it is an example of both worlds. For the Sabbath is joy, holiness, and rest.

Prom 2024 / Their first and last prom together, as Prom 2024 / Their first and last prom together, as one is at the start of her high school years and the other is finishing. Their friendship brings me such joy!

We wear so many hats as mothers, depending on the season of life. This weekend, I was their assistant, making bouquets, assisting with hair and makeup, taking their pictures, reviewing safety protocols—what a gift.
Happy Friday, friends! Did you know that I offer 1 Happy Friday, friends! Did you know that I offer 1:1 homeschool consultations? I just opened my April calendar for booking, and I’m sharing a few more details in Stories for those interested!

In short, these sessions are an opportunity to draw upon nearly two decades of my own experience, research, and practice as a mother and homeschool parent to adapt to your own needs. I have met with women in all stages of the homeschool journey, from the early childhood years to launching young adults. And these face-to-face connections are my favorite way to help other women attend to their own persons and those in their care.

The link is in my profile and in Stories to learn more, and if you have questions as to whether this is a good fit, message me!
