Nine Favorite Read Aloud Books for Spring

CHILDHOOD YEARS, PRESCHOOL YEARS, SPRING

Springtime is my favorite season for read-aloud outdoors. In light of the current quarantine, turning our attention to the new life outside our windows feels all the more precious. For those of us fortunate enough to have yards or porches to enjoy right now, spring reading is perfect outdoors with a large blanket, art supplies, and a hot cup of coffee. For those forced indoors right now with colder weather or urban dwellings, these books are the perfect invitation to create a picnic indoors and a garden for the imagination. On the best days, open the windows.

Since most of our public libraries are closed for the time, I thought I’d note that most of the books listed are available to ship and receive by the weekend. Each is something, you’ll want to return to again and again. If you haven’t ever read the Penderwicks, I recommend you begin with book one. The outdoor adventures are sure to capture the same spirit.

For those of you needing extra support occupying children at home, a few of these audiobooks are even streaming for free right now on Audible. Audiobooks have been a wonderful support in our home from the start.

Do you have books you’re drawn to in the Spring? What are some of your favorites?
